Tell us about your first day at something — school, work, as a parent, etc.
I remember my first day as a real nurse starting my first “intravenous line” (iv)! Keep in mind that in nursing school they never let us try it with a real arm so this was another very nervous experience!
It took me two tries but I actually got this first iv started! WOW! I couldn’t believe it! I’ll go on to say that eventually I got good enough to fill in for the “iv team!” Now I didn’t do that well with everything I had to perform on real people, but that s why different nurses do different things! – “The” Trainer Outdoor Training Specialist /Consultant- @61!

When I did my training, we never used fake arms. Grab a partner. Ready, steady, cannulate! Then you get a licence to cannulate lol
Yes! I’ve heard the stories and personally I’d rather had done it like that! I mean it took a long while before I received that first experience with each thing like iv’s and ng tubes and such. I didn’t run into those situations all in a week’s time! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I know that any of my “first’s” in life when other people are involved will be tough just because I’m such a shy person!
