What You Need to Know About Giraffe | Brevard Zoo Blog

Giraffes are the world’s tallest mammals, native to Africa, known for their extremely long necks and legs, unique spotted coats, and skin-covered horns (ossicones). They are herbivores that primarily eat leaves from acacia trees, using their long, prehensile tongues to navigate thorns. Despite their height, they have the same number of neck vertebrae as humans (seven) and possess a powerful heart to pump blood to their heads.
