The leopard (Panthera pardus) is a large, solitary big cat known for its rosette-patterned coat, which provides camouflage in diverse habitats across Africa and Asia, from rainforests to deserts. As powerful apex predators, they are skilled climbers, often hauling prey into trees, and are distinguished from jaguars by having no dot in the center of their rosettes. Leopards are adaptable, opportunistic hunters, but many populations are vulnerable due to habitat loss and poaching.
